Week 5 Weigh-in

I'm finally feeling back on track and in control after the holiday gain. I lost 1.4 this week. Just .4 away from where I was before Christmas. It will never cease to amaze me that people can gain 5 pounds in a week and it takes a month to lose it. I don't care what the experts say. Sometimes I really do feel like I gained some of this weight overnight.

I had an awesome week with exercise! I'm running, going to Crossfit, and even mixed in a day on the elliptical and did Level 2 of the 30 Day Shred yesterday. I did the 30DS yesterday instead of Crossfit. It really humbled me because I thought it would be easier since I've been doing Crossfit for 8 months. It was a reminder that cross-training is really important. Every type of workout focuses on different muscles and has a different intensity. It feels really good to be moving.

Running has been going great! My training schedule has me running 1.5 miles now. I usually walk for about a tenth of a mile then run 1.5 and then walk another half mile. I ran on Monday and the first mile felt really good and I was already running at a faster pace. It's good to feel that I'm already progressing. My husband and I go the gym at night to run. He gets home, we eat, and then wait about an hour for our food to settle. I feel a lot better about going to workout rather than watching TV all night and playing around on the computer.

This next week I really need to improve actually tracking my food. I was thinking about this yesterday and realized I think I do better journaling in a notebook rather than using the online tracking system. When I use the online system I feel obsessed having to login several times a day, but if I don't track right away, I forget. So a mini-goal for this week is to start using a small notebook to track my food.

  1. Sounds like everything is going well! Good job. :-)

I feel like I gained a lot overnight, too. The experts don't know everything! All I know is that my old pants go straight from size 12 to 18, so something happened there!!
